Grumeti Safari

Grumeti Safari provides a distinctive fusion of traditional big game safari and opulent lodging away from the crowds.

The privately-owned Singita Grumeti Reserves, which are close to the Western Serengeti, offer a front-row view of the wildebeest migration path and numerous opportunities to see predator-prey interactions. The Grumeti safari offers exceptional viewing all year long and is home to numerous large predators, including lions, hyenas, crocodiles, cheetahs, and leopards. Only five small properties make up the 162,000 hectare private concession, which ensures exceptional game viewing with few other vehicles. In addition to alternative safari activities like hot-air ballooning, night drives, and guided nature walks that are not permitted in the main reserve, off-road driving is allowed for up-close game sightings.

A Grumeti safari is rewarding throughout the year, but the months of June and July are the most exciting because of the massive herds of wildebeest that cross the Grumeti River every year as part of their annual migration. The best time to travel, according to many, is during the post-migration months of September and October. Large herds of zebra and wildebeest, elephant, topi, and Thomson’s gazelle can still be seen at this time, and movements of predators through the short grass are more apparent.

Singita’s deluxe lodges, an exclusive-use safari villa, or a moving tented camp that follows the migration are the guests’ lodging options. Visitors can look through the suggested Grumeti lodgings or speak with Africa Safari Experts to tailor their safari to their needs. To diversify the experience, additional top beach and safari destinations in East Africa can be added.
